How To Make A Compote Bowl Flower Arrangement
Breakfast bowls don’t just have to be for cereal, you can use them to create beautiful floral centrepieces that bring some botanical whimsiness to your home or event. With a few simple materials, you can elevate this everyday item into beautiful displays that grace your table, sideboard or window ledge.
What You'll Need:
Freshly cut flowers
Water
Ceramic bowl – similar to those in our Collection
Step-by-Step Guide
Prepare: Gather all your materials, try to pick freshly cut flowers for their freshness and vibrancy.
Place: Position the pin frog at the bottom of your bowl. This little tool will anchor your flower stems and provide the structure needed for your arrangement.
Arrange: Begin arranging your flowers by gently inserting the stems into the pin frog. Embrace the Japanese art of Ikebana, which emphasises simplicity and natural forms. Allow the flowers to arch gracefully, accepting the organic and fluid nature of your home grown blooms.
Adjust: Take your time to adjust and refine the arrangement. The interplay of different shapes, colours, and textures will bring depth and character to your display.
Water: Complete your arrangement by adding a good drink of water to keep the flowers fresh and vibrant and top this up daily.
THE METHOD
A Few Tips
Mix various flower types for texture and colour, in this arrangement I’ve used: Japanese Anemones, Cosmos, Dahlia, Nemesis and Roses.
Allow some of the stems to spill over the edges of the bowl.
Regularly check the water level to ensure your flowers stay hydrated and lively.
