Creating Furoshiki Table Gifts
I thought I’d share this lovely 'how-to' guide on creating Furoshiki Table Gifts, a charming and sustainable twist on traditional crackers and a lovely little surprise on your Christmas table.
Furoshiki in a Nutshell
Furoshiki is the art of Japanese fabric wrapping, a traditional and eco-friendly way to elegantly present and transport gifts, goods, or everyday items using cloth.
I stumbled upon something similar recently but with a price tag at around £45 I thought I’d make my own and share how easy it is with you. The nice thing about these is that you can infuse your own personal touches and add in little gifts that are tailored to your friends and family. You can use leftover fabric or in my example, napkins which can then be used once unwrapped to use with their dinner.
What You’ll Need
Small Kraft/Mache Boxes: Easily sourced from stores like Hobby Craft
Napkins or Fabric Squares: Reuse leftover fabric or repurpose napkins
Small Gift Items: Think chocolates, mini trinkets, or even heartfelt jokes—tailor it to delight your guests
Dried or Preserved Flowers (Optional): To add a lovely adornment to your wrapping

These handcrafted delights not only save you a pretty penny but also contribute to a more sustainable and thoughtful festive celebration. Whether adorning your festive table or serving as charming placeholders, these Furoshiki gifts are bound to spark joy and conversation.
