Paint Colours Shaping 2024 so Far…

We’re two months into 2024 and we’re seeing a fresh wave of paint colour trends sweeping through homes, reflecting the evolving moods and cultural shifts surrounding us. After the green surge of the past two years, we thank lockdown for that when we craved the outdoors, our colour choices now mirror a desire for warmth and cosiness.

1. Blues Take Centre Stage

In a surprising turn, blues dominate the colour palette this year which I’m pleased about after we took the unforeseen plunge and painted our balcony room in the beautiful shade Cambrian Blue By Annie Sloan. It stood out for me with its timeless elegance and warmth. That’s right, I never thought blue could be warm. For some reason, I was drawn to the Cambrian and I wasn’t a blue fan, maybe one predicted the trend for this year. Other favourites include Chinese Blue by Farrow & Ball and Blue Nova 825 by Benjamin Moore.

2. Pinks and Peach Resurgence

The resurgence of pinks, propelled by Pantone's Peach Fuzz, adds a new dimension to colour choices. Dulux's Colour of the Year, Sweet Embrace, brings a soothing and soft blush to the forefront. Blending peach with pink, Plaster V by Paint and Paper Library and China Clay Dark by Little Greene offer a perfect balance – neutral with a hint of warmth.

3. Brown-Based Hues

Earthy, warm, and comforting shades continue to make a statement in 2024. Little Greene's Sweet Treats collection introduces Ganache, Mochi, Muscavado, Madeleine, Galette, and Chocolate Colour – inspired by sweet indulgences. Ideal for bedrooms, bathrooms, and living spaces, these hues create a calm and restful feel.

We’re certainly seeing people getting braver with darker shades, and I think we’ll see a lot more of those in the coming months. Many are feeling braver to try them, especially as the myth that ‘white makes everything look bigger, brighter and lighter’ has long been quashed.

We have some exciting plans for our utility room and utility hallway this year which will be bold but warming and cosy and I’ll share more on that as the project unfolds.

Are you tempted to try any of these colours this year, let me know.
