A Viola Spring Table
As the blossoms bloom and the days lengthen, there's an undeniable urge to bring the freshness of spring indoors, and what better way to celebrate the season's arrival than by curating a charming spring table. Whether it's a casual brunch with friends or an intimate dinner gathering, this simple table setting can work for any occasion.
1. Setting the Foundation
Start with a neutral linen tablecloth as your canvas, which provides a soft and versatile backdrop for the table. To add depth and visual interest, I’ve layered an off-cut of Indian block cloth fabric, which introduces a bit of texture and subtle pattern.
2. Selecting the Tableware
Opt for tableware that strikes a balance between sophistication and simplicity. I chose large side plates enhanced with slightly smaller cabbage-style side plates, creating a nice blend of form and function. I’ve also added this beautifully understated steel Charingworth cutlery which I think adds a nice relaxed feel.
3. Adding the Finishing Touches
Complete the place settings with thoughtful accents and accessories. I’ve incorporated tiny bread plates and butter knives, that I sourced these from a charity shop. I’ve also introduced green water glasses for a pop of colour, and clear wine glasses which cater to evening gatherings. The napkins are crafted from beige linen fabric and offer a touch of warmth, while rustic elements such as aged terracotta pots adorned with delicate violas in lilac and white infuse the table with whimsy, and natural beauty. I’ve used mini glass candle plates to capture water under the pots and not ruin your table cloth.
4. Embracing Practicality
Consider practical elements that enhance both aesthetics and functionality. Such as bread or rolls in a charming basket, inviting guests to indulge in freshly baked delights. Incorporate versatile chopping boards, ideal for serving artisanal cheeses or grazing starters.
